Sarah Jakes Roberts, Pastor of Dallas’ The Potter’s House, is detailing a frightening accident that happened Sunday. Jakes Roberts said she was almost paralyzed while playing with her daughter on their trampoline when she fell on her neck. “Instantly, I heard several pops in my neck. She called her dad, who called 911. Two hospitals, several scans, and hours later, we learned that I had fractured my neck, herniated discs, and endangered areas of my spine that could have left me paralyzed,” she wrote on Instagram. Jakes Roberts wrote that if this had happened one disc lower or one disc higher, it would have been a very different story. “Instead, I’ll be wearing this brace for 4-6 weeks to keep my neck stable and avoid further damage. Rest and recovery will give my body a chance to heal. I’ll be lying low while I navigate this injury with wisdom. I’m soaking in the presence and kindness of God and in the love of friends and family,” she wrote. In July of 2025, former lead pastor of The Potter’s House, T.D. Jakes handed the reins of the church to his daughter, Sarah, and son-in-law, Toure Roberts.
