r that killed daughterAfter months of investigation, Fort Gibson police arrested Tim Thompson, his wife Stephanie Thompson, and passenger Cairl Glenn Hayes Jr. on April 17.WATCH: Defendants plead not guilty in deadly hit-and-run of Fort Gibson teen Three suspects in court for deadly hit-and-run of Fort Gibson teenAccording to court documents, Tim Thompson is accused of being the driver who struck Ferrell from behind and drove away. Ferrell was killed in November of 2025 while walking home with her best friend along Highway 80 near West 828 Road. The pair were walking a few yards off-road, according to investigators. Previous coverage>>> Arrests made following fatal hit-and-run in Fort GibsonBecause the vehicle, a maroon 2018 Chevrolet Silverado is registered to a driver of American Indian descent, the FBI joined the investigation and the trio were handed over to U.S. Marshals custody.Fort Gibson Chief of Police Rob Frazier spoke about the ongoing investigation."We know that that vehicle did not stop. I dont know until we get the full story from this person," Chief Frazier said. "Why didnt they? You would think any human that would even that they hit something would have stopped...Some can say it's an accident. Some can say it's not. We don't know yet. But it's just tragic, whatever it is."Tim Thompson pleaded not guilty to charges in Indian Country that include involuntary manslaughter, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, failure to stop for accident involving death, and conspiracy to tamper with official proceeding.Stephanie Thompson and Haynes Jr. each pleaded not guilty to the latter, and for a separate charge of tamper with official proceeding.A federal judge remarked during April 20 arraignments that Stephanie Thompson and Haynes Jr. each allegedly lied to investigators on two occasions by claiming the damage on the front end of the pickup truck was due to a deer the husband had hit, which Haynes Jr. subsequently picked up and disposed of.Haynes Jr. served jail time for previous charges in years past, including a 2023 charge of felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.Stephanie Thompson was approved to be released following a detention hearing hours after her arraignment on April 20.
