Mother seeks justice 5 years after deadly Fort Worth hitandrun kills son
Apr 18, 2026
Five years after Michael Medina Jr. was killed in a Fort Worth hit-and-run, his mother continues to plead for justice.
“I make sure that Michael is always, always remembered,” said mother Asile Medina.
Five years have passed since the 22-year-old was killed in the 1100 block of I-35 and
Rosedale Street in Fort Worth.
His parents visit the site often to honor his memory.
His mother said Michael would give someone the last dollar in his pocket and was a devoted son, always calling and visiting home.
“I don’t get those text messages. I don’t get to hear my son,” said Medina. “I’ll never have that again because he was taken by someone that was irresponsible that night.”
Michael was out with friends on the night of April 18th, 2021 when his truck was towed. His parents know he visited a 7-11 near the highway and Rosedale, shortly before he was killed walking in the northbound lanes of traffic. The driver never stopped.
“We want justice. That’s all that we want,” said his mother. “Do the right thing. Do the right thing for Michael.”
Medina believes in her heart that someone knows something and is pleading with them to come forward.
“It’s the hardest thing we have to live through every single day – waking up and still having to live life and keep going – like he never existed,” said Medina.
If you have any information about that night or the crash, contact Fort Worth police.
