RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond's spring heatwave is officially record-breaking. At about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, temperatures in Richmond reached 93 degrees Fahrenheit -- breaking the previous record for the hottest April 15 in Richmond history, according to StormTracker8 Chief Meteorologi st Matt DiNardo. That record, 92 degrees, was set decades ago in 1941. Wednesday is also the first day Richmond has seen temperatures over 90 degrees since mid-September 2025. DiNardo added that there's a chance for another record to be broken on Thursday, April 16, as its forecasted high of 93 degrees matches the daily record set in 1976.
