LINTON, Ind. (WISH) — Greene County General Hospital announced Monday that it has served Anthem with a breach notice. GCGH says the breach comes after months of failed efforts to resolve significant payment and adjudication issues affecting the hospital and its patients. GCGH says Anthem has acknowledged that some claims weren’t handled correctly and admits the problem remains unsolved. “At some point, acknowledgment without correction is just continued harm,” CEO of GCGH Brenda Reetz said in a release. The hospital says Anthem has been paying claims far below what GCGH believes is required under contract and has acknowledged that many commercial claims were adjudicated under an out-of-network framework. GCGH is calling on Anthem to fully identify the scope of the affected claims and to properly reprocess and pay them. “Our patients and our hospital should not continue paying the price for Anthem’s errors,” Reetz said. “We are asking for accountability, correction, and action.” ...read more read less
