The Cape May County Park and Zoo has a new addition, and he has a star-worthy name. Leonardo DiCatprio, or Leo for short, a five-year-old Eurasian lynx, has a new home at the popular New Jersey zoo, joining the Small Mammals section near the porcupines and bobcats. The zoo shared that Leo wa s a former pet that was rescued after wandering the streets of Long Island, New York. Then, for the last four years, he lived at the Holtsville Wildlife and Ecology Center in Brookhaven, Long Island. Leo can be seen daily during Zoo hours, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome yet another exciting member of our Zoo family,” said Andrew Bulakowski, Vice Director of the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners. “The care our animals receive is second to none, and our team is excited to work with Leo. We can’t wait for our residents and visitors to see him.” According to the zoo, the Eurasian lynx is the largest of the lynx species and typically weighs 40 to 77 pounds.
