Louisa neighborhoods see string of vehicle breakins

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Over a dozen vehicles were broken into in Louisa County early Monday morning.
At about 2:30 a.m. on Monday, April 13, deputies with the Louisa County Sheriff's Office were called to the Countryside subdivision in the town of Louisa for report of multiple vehicles being
broken into.
Though deputies reportedly arrived within minutes and immediately launched a search, no suspects were found.
"According to witness statements, three, possibly four individuals, all described as being dressed in black clothing, were seen moving from vehicle to vehicle, pulling on door handles and rummaging through parked cars," authorities said.

Per the sheriff's office, it's believed 14 vehicles were broken into across the subdivision, with the suspects stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and a purse.
Later that morning, a similar incident was reported out of the Stonegate Terrace Apartments in the Zion Crossroads area. Authorities did not specify how many vehicles were targeted or what kinds of items were stolen.
"Investigators are actively working to determine whether these incidents are connected," the sheriff's office said.
No additional information is available as of the time of reporting.

Authorities are asking that residents of these two impacted areas check their home security, doorbell and vehicle cameras to see if they captured footage of any suspicious activity.

“We would like to remind residents to always lock vehicle doors, remove valuables from plain view, and report suspicious activity immediately," said Sheriff Donald Lowe in a press release.
