The Mountain View City Council will consider a plan that would allow for open consumption of alcohol during specific events. The idea is to create so-called entertainment zone along five blocks of Castro Street. Recent changes in state law allow cities to establish entertainment zones where pe ople can drink alcohol on streets and sidewalks during certain times and events. San Jose and San Francisco have established entertainment zones. Palo Alto is expected to take up a similar plan next week. An 18-month pilot plan will be introduced at Tuesday’s Mountain View City Council meeting. If the council votes to move forward, the plan will go up for final approval on April 28.
