Outliers fall to brink of playoff elimination in overtime
Apr 12, 2026
GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — Overtime proved deadly for the Utah Outliers hockey club on Saturday night. The Outliers fell 2-1 to the Grand Junction River Hawks in game two of the best-of-five Mountain Division Final.
Grand Junction forward Sami Kallionkieli tagged the game winner with a marker
in the extra frame, but it only arrived after Utah forced overtime.
Alternate captain Mags Sagadiev swooped to the team’s rescue down 1-0 with five and a half minutes remaining in the game. The powerplay tally tied the contest before the dismal finish in overtime.
Outliers captain Jesse Ivanovic voiced his optimism ahead of game three when Utah claims home ice. He said, “It’s been a tight series. We played winning hockey tonight but did not get a winning result. We are home at BR now, and we have complete confidence we will hold serve.”
The series flips to Park City at the Black Rock Event Center for game three on Monday at 7:05 p.m. Puck drop for a potential game four is set for 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday. A win-or-go-home game five is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
