Man dead after Lafayette Police Shooting LAFAYETTE (WISH) — One man is dead following an officer involved shooting in Lafayette early Saturday afternoon according to a Lafayette Police Department press release. At around 12:15 p.m., police responded to a report of an intoxicated man pointi ng a gun in the area of Stillwell Street. There, police found a man in the roadway with a gun. Police say they attempted to get the man to drop the gun several times. He ignored commands and police officer’s attempts to de-escalate the situation.
