Wildfire in Gloucester County now 100% contained, officials say

A massive wildfire in Gloucester County, New Jersey, on Saturday produced heavy smoke visible in South Philly.
The fire, which was visible from Interstate 95, was reported around 11 a.m. in West Deptford, in the area of Sunoco Refinery property.
At around 6 p.m., officials said the wildfire wa
s now 100% contained and had burned around 160 acres total.
No structures were destroyed or given mandatory evacuation orders, officials said.
Red Bank Avenue was closed from Hessian Avenue to the Delaware River, but is now also reopened, according to officials.
DroneForce10 was over the fire at around 4 p.m. and found a burn scar along with the fire still going.
According to the Gloucester County Emergency Management, smoke plumes and fallen ash were reported as far south and east as Glassboro and Washington Township.
The heavy smoke was also visible from Philadelphia. Phillies fans could see the smoke as they walked to Citizens Bank Park for Saturday’s game.
Several resources were deployed to the scene to fight the fire and protect structures. Multiple fire boats from both sides of the Delaware River and teams from New Jersey Forest Fire Service were also helping.
Those with health or breathing problems were urged to stay indoors or shut windows.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
