The National Weather Service issued an updated report at 4:38 p.m. on Friday for elevated fire danger until Saturday at 8 a.m. for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties."The combination of gusty northwest winds, up to 20 to 25 mph, and low relative humidity, as low as 25 to 30%, on Satur day will produce an elevated risk of fire spread. As a reminder, New York's annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14. Use caution when handling any potential ignition sources, including machinery, cigarettes and matches. The forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions and has been developed in coordination with state fire and land management officials," explains the weather service. ...read more read less
