SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A Delta Air Lines flight was diverted to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) Tuesday night “out of an abundance of caution,” according to an airline spokesperson. The flight, DL1430, departed from John Wayne Airport in Orange County and was intended to fly into Seattl e-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The flight departed from Southern California at 7:31 p.m. Nearly 50 minutes into the flight, as the Airbus A220-100 passed over Yosemite National Park, it began to divert to the west toward OAK. A Delta spokesperson told KRON4 Wednesday morning that the diversion was due to a “reported odor from the flight crew.” Delta joins growing list of airlines raising checked bag fees The plane landed without incident at OAK at 8:48 p.m. According to Delta, passengers deplaned normally and the Airbus aircraft was taken out of service for evaluation. “Delta worked to minimize disruption for customers by arranging alternate travel arrangements,” its spokesperson said.
