We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team and lead our marketing and communications efforts to position the Chamber as a thought leader in championing business success and economic opportunity. The ideal candidate will have strong brand positioning skills and experience in developi
ng proactive and impactful communications. The individual will sit in counsel with the President and CEO and with Chamber volunteer leadership to develop communications strategies, manage communications assets, and execute on our vision.
You will lead this function as a team of one, supported by external partners and internal contributors. While others across the organization will contribute subject matter input and content, you will serve as the central strategist and coordinator—acting as our internal communications expert. In this role you will shape and execute a cohesive messaging strategy across paid, earned, and owned channels, managing initiatives such as LinkedIn thought leadership, speaking opportunities, strategic partnerships, blog content, and more to ensure a consistent and compelling voice in the market.
This position requires flexibility, problem-solving skills and the ability to work successfully as part of the Chamber Team – interacting well with all levels of staff, volunteers, and board members, plus community and elected leaders.
DIRECTOR, Marketing and Communications Reports To: President Chief Executive Officer
The Director will be responsible for ensuring that the organization meets and exceeds the strategic direction and goals set forth by the Board of Directors. These goals will include actions and key performance indicators within our strategic priorities, our sales goals, annual and recurring event planning promotion, and management of the Chamber’s brand.
Some communication-related tasks are recurring (weekly e-newsletter, website management, event marketing), and we are open to new ways of approaching these tasks to better reach and impact target audiences. Other activities will be evolving (social media, media relations, crafting public comment and thought pieces, maintaining a media calendar), and we need your expertise and relationships with media outlets and channels to help us best get our messages out.
And, as with any small nonprofit, you’ll be expected to help with events, meetings, and other “all hands on deck” activities. This is not a remote position.
