INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police say an investigation into a near north side shooting on Tuesday ended in a police chase, multiple car crashes, and a suspect in custody. IMPD says the incident started when officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Winthrop Avenue to investigate a “shots f ired” call around 12:30 p.m. That address is just west of the Monon Trail off East 30th Street. When they arrived, they spotted a suspect in a shooting driving by. Officers tried to pull the suspect over, but they refused to stop. Investigators initiated a chase. During the pursuit, IMPD says the suspect tossed a firearm and “suspected narcotics” from the vehicle. The chase eventually ended near East 30th Street and North Mitthoefer Road, when the suspect crashed into two other vehicles. Police say they also crashed into another uninvolved vehicle when passing Chester Avenue. The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken into custody.
