Motorcyclist killed in singlevehicle crash in Hanover

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A motorcyclist is dead after he ran off the road and crashed into a tree in Hanover County early Sunday morning.
At around midnight on Sunday, April 5, deputies with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office were called to the 6000 block of Studley Road for a single-vehicle
motorcycle crash.
Police said an initial investigation indicates that a 2026 Aprilia motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Studley Road when it left the roadway and hit a tree.
According to the sheriff's office, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene by Hanover Fire and EMS.
Their identity has not yet been confirmed due to the severity of the injuries, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is actively working to make a positive identification, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities will release the motorcyclist's name after this is confirmed and next of kin is notified.
"Investigators continue to gather information to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash," the sheriff's office wrote in the release.
