SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KRON) -- A structure fire in a Santa Rosa duplex left one woman dead, according to officials. A good Samaritan reported their neighbor's house was on fire just after 10 p.m. Friday night. Santa Rosa firefighters responded to 1679 Greeneich Avenue and reported heavy fire conditio ns at the scene. Twenty-two fire personnel responded to the scene and was able to contain the fire in under 20 minutes. Simultaneously, rescue teams found a man near the back porch and moved him to safety. He was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Crews also found a woman inside one of the bedrooms suffering from smoke inhalation and burns. Despite lifesaving efforts, officials said she was pronounced dead at the scene. While the investigation is ongoing, fire officials said the cause of the fire seems to be electrical originating from the kitchen.
