STANLY CO., N.C. – Whooping cough has been confirmed in Stanly County. The county health department is urging awareness about the recent cases. Whooping cough is a highly contagious bacterial infection that develops between five and 21 days after exposure. Symptoms include trouble breathing, an d persistent cough which can lead to vomiting and extreme tiredness. Babies are most at risk.
