A March meeting of the Dallas ISD board unanimously approved a universal pre-k program for all 3- and 4-year-old students in the district. Previously, free pre-K in the district was limited to students who met state eligibility requirements, such as income or language status. Under the new progra m, all eligible pre-K students living within Dallas ISD boundaries can enroll at no cost. For the 2025-2026 school year, pre-k tuition in the district is $5,000 for full-day classes and $2,500 for half-day classes. Previously, free pre-K in Dallas ISD was limited to students who met state eligibility requirements. With the expansion, families could save up to $5,000 per year for full-day pre-K. To register for the upcoming school year, parents can visit the Dallas ISD pre-k registration site to upload the required documents and complete an online registration form. Families should be prepared to provide documents such as proof of residency, a birth certificate, and immunization records. Dallas ISD is not the only North Texas school offering free pre-K. Fort Worth ISD also has a free program, and Arlington ISD offers free pre-k to 4-year-olds and qualifying 3-year-olds.
