Trenton man charged in murder of 20yearold, prosecutors say

A Trenton man was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that happened over the weekend, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officials said Darnell Housley, 40, was formally charged with murder on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in the shooting death of 20-year-old Wilber Quib-C
uc.
On March 27, 2026, at approximately 1 a.m., patrol units responded to the area of Beatty Street and Freudenmacher Alley in Trenton, New Jersey, following the activation of the ShotSpotter, which is a gunshot detection system.
When officers arrived to the location, they found Quib-Cub suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, according to officials.
Officials said Quib-Cub was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he died a day later.
Following some preliminary investigation, Mercer County Homicide Task Force detectives returned to the scene the next day and saw a man who fit the suspect’s description, later identified as Housley. Officials said Housley was detained and found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun and suspected heroin. He was then arrested and charged with weapons and narcotics offenses.
Further investigation led to Housley being charged with additional weapons offenses and a murder charge in connection with Quib-Cub’s death.
According to officials, the prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Housley while he awaits trial.
The investigation remains ongoing.
