Dallas Area Rapid Transit is taking its next step in finding a new leader following CEO Nadine Lee’s announcement that she will step down. At a board meeting on Tuesday, members are expected to approve the qualifications and job description for the agency’s next president and chief executive of ficer, a key step in starting the search for a new leader. The transition to new leadership comes after Lee notified DART leaders she would not seek an extension of her employment contract. The position will oversee all major functions of the agency, including operations, planning, finance, communications, and construction, while setting DART’s overall strategy and direction. Lee’s departure marks a significant leadership change for the transit agency, which serves millions of riders across North Texas. In previous reporting, Lee told NBC 5 she feels tensions between DART and member cities have eased.
