The mother of a man killed in a mass shooting in West Philadelphia’s Cobbs Creek neighborhood wants answers, calling for an end to gun violence.
“I’m devastated. I’m angry,” Tiffany Thurston said Tuesday. “I don’t want [no] repercussions. I just want us to come together as a commu
nity, and this violence has to stop.”
Thurston is the mother of 24-year-old Paul “PJ” Cobb. He was identified by Philadelphia police as one of the two men who were killed Monday evening after gunfire erupted by 60th and Delancey streets.

The second victim killed has been identified as 24-year-old Nassir Boyd.
Police said a masked gunman opened fire on a crowd from a white vehicle around 8:40 p.m. Monday, hitting Cobb and Boyd. Three other people — aged 35, 36, and 54 — were also hurt in the shooting. The 36-year-old man who was shot remains in critical condition as of Tuesday morning, police said.
Thurston said her son grew up in the area. While their family no longer lives in that neighborhood, she said he visits often. He was on his way to her home nearby when he was shot, she said.
“He was a son, he was a brother, he was an uncle, and he was a cousin. They don’t understand how many lives that have been destroyed by this,” she said.
Police have not yet released information on the make or model of the car involved in the shooting. Investigators were spotted by 60th and Delancey streets around 9 a.m. Tuesday surveying the area.
No arrest have been made as of Tuesday. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
