The Santee Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire near the 100 block of River Rock Court in Santee. The San Diego Sheriff’s Department said the call came in just after 6:30 p.m. and the fire was located near the San Diego River and the businesses near Town Center Parkway. Deputies ev acuated nearby commercial stores, including Walmart and Michaels. No residential evacuations were ordered. Authorities asked that the public avoid the area until further notice. At around 8:30 p.m. officials confirmed the fire’s forward process was stopped at five acres.
