Garland police are investigating a deadly stabbing inside a grocery store.
Friday night, just after 8 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing call at the Fiesta grocery store in the 2900 block of South First Street.
Officers found a man with stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where
he was pronounced deceased. Garland police later identified the victim as 39-year-old Franky Seleyma Arrendondo Barrios.
“The victim entered the store and would appear to be just shopping, and he was in the back of the store where allegedly this suspect went up to him and just stabbed him in the neck,” said Lt. Pedro Barineau, Public Information Officer for Garland Police.
Police say the suspect had left the scene by the time officers arrived.
Saturday morning, Garland police shared a photo with the public of a man believed to be involved. Taken from surveillance video, it showed a man wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, a hat and gloves.
Barineau said within 30 to 45 minutes of releasing the photo, the man turned himself in to the police.
NBC 5 captured video of the alleged suspect being placed in handcuffs outside the Garland police department.
Police identified the suspect as Juan Pedro Reyes, 32, of Garland. He is now facing a murder charge. No bond has been set.
Garland police do not yet have a motive.
“It’s a very complicated situation because we’re still trying to determine exactly why this suspect pinpointed this victim,” Barineau said.
