Almost every Saturday for nearly two years in the early 1970s, I picked up a picket sign and walked back and forth in front of Safeway grocery stores here in Hawaii. My infant daughter rode on my back. My 3-year-old held my hand. We were part of the United Farm Workers grape boycott, and I believed we were on the right side of history.
