WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KRON) -- People across the country are getting ready to join a nationwide rally Saturday to protest President Donald Trump's policies and the war against Iran.
‘No Kings’ protests in Bay Area: List
Here in the Bay Area, Indivisible ReSisters Contra Costa County is expecting
their biggest turn out yet.
Founder Kathryn Durham-Hammer says they are ready for everyone.
"Yeah, that's where we're going to have the little makeshift stage,” said Durham-Hammer, pointing at an empty parking lot outside of the Sunvalley Mall in Concord.
Durham-Hammer believes people are motivated to have their voices heard.
"People are really upset right now,” Durham-Hammer stated. “They're upset about an illegal war. They're upset about people abroad being harmed by our country, by our tax dollars and they're also upset about people right here being harmed and people being in fear and snatched and taken to detention centers."
The "No Kings" movement opposes perceived authoritarianism and advocates for democracy in response to the current administration’s policies.

Durham-Hammer says each "No Kings" event has grown. They had about 5,000 people at the first one, 8,000 at the second and they’re expecting even more so they're having multiple events this time.
“We're going to have a rally here at Sunvalley Mall at 10:30, and there's a rally in Pleasant Hill at 11:30. Then from 12:30 to 2, we're going to stretch all the way from here all the way down to Broadway Plaza and it's going to be a human chain. We're not holding hands, but we're all united in a long line of protestors."
Broadway Plaza is about five miles away from Sunvalley Mall. They're calling it a solidarity honk and wave; people will be stationed along Contra Costa Boulevard. Many will have signs or be chanting and cheering.
Police departments say they are aware of the event and have adequate staffing, including Pleasant Hill, Concord, and Walnut Creek.
"The Walnut Creek Police Department respects the community's right to peacefully assemble and express their views,” said a statement from Walnut Creek Police. “As with any public event, we plan ahead, staff appropriately, and monitor conditions throughout to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Our focus is on facilitating lawful expression while keeping our community safe."
