SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Transit agencies in the Bay Area are preparing for record crowds at “No Kings” protests Saturday. In San Francisco, SFMTA posted the following street closures from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Market from Beale to Steuart Steuart from Market to Howard Spear from Marke t to Folsom Main from Market to Howard All intersections with Mission Street will remain open ‘No Kings’ protests in Bay Area: List The following streets will be closed from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Market from Eighth to Steuart Hyde from McAllister to Market Grove from Market to Van Ness Muni service along Market Street will be routed onto Mission Street and service that crosses Market will have service switchbacks or reroutes to avoid the march area between, approximately, Market Beale and Civic Center. BART plans on having extra staff on hand to help manage crowds. A spokesperson for BART saying the agency plans on running typical five-line service with some Red and Orange line trains extending to eight train cars to increase capacity. Protests in the East Bay will also impact traffic. AC Transit posted updates on X of bus stop closures and alternative routes in Oakland and Alameda.
