President Donald Trump took the stage at a global economic summit in Miami Beach and his arrival to the area brought road closures and traffic delays. Speaking to a crowd of investors at the Future Investment Initiative, Trump delivered closing remarks where he touched on all topics including Ira n and the U.S. economy. “We’re gathered at a moment of bold action and historic decision to make America and our allies safer and stronger, more prosperous, more successful than ever before. That’s what’s happening. Tonight, we’re closer than ever to the rise of the Middle East that is finally free at last from Iranian terror, aggression and nuclear blackmail. That’s what’s happening,” Trump said. He also touched on reports of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. “They lied–about three days ago, I said ‘Yeah, we’re negotiating with…’, ‘We’re not negotiating.’ They’re being hit so hard, anybody would be negotiating. They are negotiating. They are begging to make a deal. Turned out I was right. They were negotiating which they admitted two days later,” he said. Outside the hotel, 7News cameras captured a mobile command center set up by Miami Beach Police along 32nd Street and Collins Avenue as well as a massive law enforcement presence across the area. Bystanders were also standing around with their phones out awaiting the president’s exit into his motorcade. Earlier in the day, Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner provided his thoughts on the event as he headed inside. “It shows the support that people are having for South Florida and Miami Beach and the amount of investment that’s really growing here. We are at the heart of the world right now in Miami Beach and South Florida, where it used to be other parts of the country, of the world, people are really looking to come here and this conference is part of that and that’s why we’re seeing the president come here,” he said. Friday marks the second time Trump will provide the closing remarks at the event. Road closures and traffic impacts took place between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., according to officials. 7News cameras captured Trump walking down the steps of Air Force One and headed toward reporters to also discuss Iran. “On Iran, they are being decimated. They are talking, we are talking now, they want to make a deal. Very simply, our military is the greatest in the world by far. Iran is being decimated. Thank you,” Trump said.
