LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 27, 2026) – Construction for the I-75 widening project from Paris Pike (US 68) to the Southern Split in Lexington will require temporary road closures on Paris Pike in both directions overnight on Monday, March 30, through Tuesday mo
rning. The temporary closure will allow contractors to remove forms from the old I-75 Paris Pike bridge outside the barrier wall construction.
Beginning Monday at midnight, contractors will close Paris Pike in both directions under the I-75 bridge. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday. Traffic traveling eastbound – away from Lexington – on Paris Pike will detour via I-75 southbound to Exit 110 (Winchester Road), turn around and re-enter Paris Pike eastbound via Exit 113 (Paris Pike). Traffic traveling westbound – toward Lexington – on Paris Pike will detour via I-75 northbound to Exit 115 (Newtown Pike), where they will turn around and re-enter Paris Pike westbound at Exit 113 (Paris Pike).
Law enforcement will be on site to direct traffic and ensure speed restrictions.
Monday, March 30
At midnight, Paris Pike will close in both directions under the I-75 bridge.
All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Law enforcement officers will be present to direct traffic.
The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Paris Pike exit to the I-75/I-64 Southern Split. It is the second of two projects to widen I-75/I-64 to four lanes each direction in Fayette County. Find more information online at DrivingLexingtonProgress.org.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
