REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (KRON) -- Police responding to a report of a shooting in a Redwood City residential neighborhood Wednesday morning found two gunshot victims blocks apart, authorities said. Redwood City Police Department officers and emergency responders were dispatched to a shooting victim aro und 9:15 a.m. in the area of McGarvey Avenue and Farm Hill Boulevard. During the response, authorities learned of a second shooting victim nearby on Hastings Avenue. “Based on this information, all available Redwood City Police units responded to both locations,” RCPD said. Investigators determined both victims were involved in an “isolated incident” that occurred inside a residence in the 3000 block of Hastings Avenue. Neighbors told KRON4 that the home is used as a rental. Both victims were rushed to hospitals with critical injuries. Authorities said Thursday that both individuals are expected to survive. (KRON4) Amid the investigation Wednesday, yellow tape was seen surrounding what neighbors called a quiet cul-de-sac, with blood drops trailing for two blocks. Alicia Young, who has lived nearby for nearly 20 years, told KRON4 that this kind of violence is unheard of. “Very family friendly and safe and I would say a great community,” Young said. “Never have we experienced something like this before.” Redwood City police said the preliminary investigation “indicates this was an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another. There is no ongoing threat to the public.” No information about a suspect in the double shooting was released as of Thursday. ...read more read less
