A 46-year old Sioux Falls man is convicted and sentenced in Brookings County Court for his 7th DUI in 25 years. Wilson Jason Big Crow was convicted by a jury in Brookings County Court on Feb. 19, 2026, on a charge of 7th offense driving under the influence and a charge of driving with a revoked lice nse. Circuit Court Judge David Wheeler subsequently sentenced Big Crow Monday, March 24 to 10 years in prison with one year suspended. On May 5, 2025, Brookings police pulled over Big Crow for following too closely. Police said that during the traffic stop, Big Crow admitted to using marijuana. During a subsequent vehicle search, police found marijuana paraphernalia. Police administered a breath test that showed no presence of alcohol on Big Crow, but the arresting officer said he determined Big Crow was under the influence of a drug and thus could not safely operate a motor vehicle. Police arrested Big Crow on a charge of DUI 4th or More Offense, Driving with a Revoked License, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in a motor vehicle.   In a written press statement, Brookings County States Attorney Dan Nelson said, “Impaired drivers pose a significant danger to our community. Working closely with our law enforcement partners, we presented the case to a jury and they returned a guilty verdict. The judge appropriately determined that Mr. Big Crow needed to be removed from our community to ensure our streets remain safe.” Story courtesy of news partner Brookings Radio. ...read more read less
