COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Columbia-Richland firefighters responded to an overnight fire at a condominium. It happened at the Village Creek condominiums shortly before 1:30 a.m., where fire was seen coming through the roof of a two floor condo building off of Kay Street and out of the windows on its front side. Portions of the roof of the building were also completely burned away. More than 40 firefighters became involved in extinguishing the fire. Authorities say everyone made it out safely and no injuries were reported. However, eleven people have been left displaced. The condo building has a total of eight condos and four of them were left damaged by fire, smoke and water. Firefighters say they were successful in saving the other half of the building and it is still inhabitable. The cause of the fire will be investigated by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office.
