SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A 34-year-old San Francisco man faces multiple charges after police said he tried to sexual assault a woman in the city's Russian Hill neighborhood in mid-February.
The San Francisco Police Department said officers responded at 4:14 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15 to a residence on
the 2100 block of Larkin Street to investigate reports of a person yelling and screaming for help. SFPD said officers made contact with the adult female victim who was "visibly distraught."
Police added, "During the preliminary investigation, officers learned that an unknown male subject followed the victim home and when she was attempting to close her door, the subject forced his way into her residence and attempted to sexually assault her. After a brief struggle, the victim was able to escape from her residence and run for help."
A day later, the suspect, identified as Daquane Hubbard, was located at a residence on the 900 block of Geary Street by officers and taken into custody.
Hubbard was taken to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked for assault with intent to commit a felony, sexual penetration with object, burglary, robbery, attempted rape, false imprisonment, sexual battery and assault with intent to commit rape, according to SFPD.
“This kind of heinous violence will never be tolerated in San Francisco,” said Chief Derrick Lew of SFPD. “I want to thank all the police officers from multiple stations for their outstanding police work and coordination that led to the swift arrest of the suspect.”
Despite the arrest, this remains an active case. Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to contact police at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411, starting the message with "SFPD."
