(KRON) -- When first lady Melania Trump appeared Wednesday at an education and technology event at the White House she was joined by an AI-powered humanoid robot. The robot, Figure 03, accompanied Trump as she arrived in the White House East Room for the second day of the summit. The first lady and the robot walked slowly side by side along the red carpet. "Thank you, first lady Melania Trump, for inviting me to the White House," it said. "It is an honor to be at Fostering the Future Together's global coalition inaugural meeting." "I am grateful to be part of this historic movement to empower children and education." "Welcome," it then said, before offering a similar greeting in 10 other languages. The robot then thanked the room and went back down the red carpet. The robot was the product of Figure AI, a Sunnyvale-based robotics startup. It was rolled out last October as its third-generation humanoid robot for people to use at home. It was designed to aid in household tasks like laundry, cleaning, and washing dishes. After the appearance, Figure AI CEO Brett Adcock tweeted that he was "So proud to see F.03 make history as the first humanoid robot in the White House," adding, "as always fully autonomous."
