INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The NCAA will host its 2026 Men’s Final Four High School Student-Athlete Symposium on April 6 at the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis to help students and their families navigate the transition to college athletics.
The event, scheduled fro
m 10 to 11:30 a.m., will cover academic requirements, recruiting basics, name, image and likeness opportunities and mental health resources.
About 250 attendees are expected, including student-athletes in grades eight through 12, along with parents, high school counselors and coaches. Representatives from the NCAA Eligibility Center, the NCAA Sports Science Institute and other governance departments will participate.
A primary focus of the symposium is initial eligibility, which outlines the academic standards students must meet to compete in Division I or Division II athletics. Requirements include completing 16 core courses and maintaining a minimum 2.3 GPA in core subjects such as English, math and science.
The event aims to connect families with NCAA staff and resources while providing guidance on eligibility, recruiting and balancing academics with athletics.
The symposium coincides with the Men’s Final Four in Indianapolis. The NCAA is also hosting a similar program during the Women’s Final Four in Phoenix. The event is open to student-athletes across all sports.
Organizers say the goal is to close information gaps and provide families, mentors and school staff with direct access to information needed to support student-athletes through the recruiting and eligibility process.
