The mayor of Pierre and Pierre School Board races will both be on the June 2, 2026, election ballot. Providing no other petitions arrive via mail by Thursday afternoon (March 26, 2026), three people will be on the ballot to fill one open position on the Pierre School Board. Those who turned in petit ions directly to the school district administration office are Madisyn Neibauer, George Seamon, Jr. and Rochelle Kenzy. This is a three-year term. Dan Cronin did not seek re-election. For the Pierre Mayor race, incumbent Steve Harding is being challenged by current Commissioner Todd Johnson. The Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Government Outreach Committee, DRG Media Group and Riverfront Broadcasting are working out details regarding a candidate forum that would include the Pierre School Board, Pierre mayor, District 24 House of Representatives and District 24 Senate candidates.
