CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield Earth Day Festival will return to the county for its fourth year in April, featuring a host of environmentally savvy county departments, organizations and businesses. Chesterfield County will host its fourth annual Chesterfield Earth Day Festival from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, located at 10300 Courthouse Road, according to a March 23 press release. Presented by CFIT Community in partnership with the county, this year's free family event will include several outdoor activities and a shredding event held in conjunction with the festival, officials said. Litter pickup will be available from 10 a.m. until noon around the Fairgrounds and on Courthouse Road, per a release. The county said festivities will also include Touch-a-Truck for kids of all ages, a Play Zone, food trucks, recycling vendors and more. Virginia Cooperative Extension, Rockwood Nature Center and other county departments will conduct live demonstrations around ways residents can help the environment that include: Water Quality, Stormwater Pollution Prevention, Rain Barrel Waste Reduction, Recycling and Composting Adopt-A-Spot, Community Cleanups, Anti-litter programs To learn more about the free festival, visit the county's webpage. ...read more read less
