Groundbreaking on renovations on WISH Park in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Democratic Mayor Joe Hogsett, City-County Councilor Leroy Robinson and Indy Parks broke ground Thursday on a renovation on WISH Park.
WISH Park will be getting a new playground. The park is at 2602 Westlane Roa
d, just east of Michigan road on the northeast side.
The project was funded through a Lilly Endowment grant and money directed to the project from Robinson, a Democrat.
Over 40 Indy Parks are either under construction or about to start construction as part of a $150 million plan to upgrade over a third of of Indianapolis’s 218 parks.
In 2025, an City-County ordinance approved a one-time allocation of $1 million to each councilor for a park or road infrastructure project. WISH Park was one of four councilor-directed park infrastructure projects.
The construction at WISH Park was expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Canterbury Park will get a new playground, volleyball court, pump track and other sites improvements. The city will break ground on this project at 11 a.m. Monday.
Robey Park will get a new shelter, comfort station, hard courts, and trail improvements. Construction is scheduled to start in the summer.
Thompson Park will get a new playground and improved trails and courts. Construction began in the fall and was expected to be completed in the summer.
