(KRON) -- A 17-year-old Morgan Hill boy was found deceased on Highway 101 under the Tennant Avenue overcrossing, California Highway Patrol officers said. CHP officers were alerted just after 3 a.m. on March 14 that the victim was in the roadway. Investigators suspect that a hit-and-run driver struc k the victim while he was walking near the northbound lanes of Highway 101. "Preliminary investigation indicates the decedent is likely the victim of a vehicle versus pedestrian hit-and-run crash, however, other factors have not been ruled out," the CHP wrote on Tuesday. The boy's name was not publicly released by law enforcement. Mercedes-Benz found submerged in Sausalito CHP Captain Noel Coady said, "Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased. Pedestrian safety is everyone’s responsibility. Drivers need to share the road and be cognizant of their surroundings at all times, while pedestrians need to ensure they are highly visible and plenty of time and distance exists before attempting to cross vehicle traffic."
