RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 13,500 homes and businesses in Central Virginia were without power Tuesday morning after Monday's severe thunderstorms. During the evening on Monday, March 16, severe thunderstorms brought heavy rain and high-speed winds to Central Virginia, causing many to lose pow er. As of 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, more than 24,785 Dominion Energy customers were without power in Virginia, including over 13,500 homes and businesses without power in the following Central Virginia localities: Chesterfield County: 3,365 Henrico County: 2,858 Goochland County: 2,216 Powhatan County: 1,909 Richmond: 673 Albemarle County: 540 Caroline County: 491 Amelia County: 489 Prince Edward County: 414 Hanover County: 259 Buckingham County : 301 At the height of the outage on Monday, nearly 47,000 Central Virginia homes and businesses were without power.
