(KRON) -- A suspect in a shooting that took place in downtown San Jose on Super Bowl Sunday has been arrested and charged with attempted murder. The San Jose Police Department responded on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 10:50 a.m. to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Santa Clara and Market streets. O fficers responded and learned that an altercation between two groups of people occurred outside a business. At one point during the altercation, the suspect produced a firearm and shot six people. Pittsburg assault results in death of 53-year-old man Four of the victims were taken to the hospital. One victim self-transported to the hospital and another was treated at the scene. All of the injuries sustained in the shooting were non-life-threatening. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving. The SJPD Gang Investigations Unit Detectives took over the investigation assisted by the SJPD Real Time Intelligence Center and utilizing automated license plate reader technology. Investigating detectives were able to identify the suspect vehicle used to flee the area. The shooter was later identified as Tyrone Asphy, a Washington state resident who was in town for the Super Bowl. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Asphy and a search warrant for his associated residence. Tyrone Asphy (SJPD) Coordinating with the San Francisco and Seattle branches of the FBI, along with the Federal Way Police Department in Washington, investigators confirmed Asphy had fled back to Washington. On Wednesday, March 11, SJPD detectives working with the FBI and the Washington Regional Valley SWAT team located Asphy at his residence in Federal Way, Washington and arrested him. He was booked into King County Jail where he is awaiting an extradition hearing to be extradited back to Santa Clara County. While executing the search warrant, officers located the firearm believed used in the shooting. "On a day that should have been a celebration, a dangerous suspect from out of state chose to bring violence into downtown San Jose and attempted to take multiple lives," said SJPD Chief of Police Paul Joseph. "He fled back to his home state, but fleeing will not put distance between him and the consequences of his actions. Anyone who commits violence in this city should know that the San Jose Police Department is committed to protecting our community and will relentlessly pursue those responsible until they are held accountable."
