(KRON) -- A report of an assault in Pittsburg on Saturday night resulted in the death of a 53-year-old man, the Pittsburg Police Department said in a social media post. Around 10:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of East Santa Fe Avenue. According to PPD, officers found the man ins ide a home who was "suffering from serious injuries to the upper torso." The man was taken to the hospital where he later died. The suspect is described as a 27-year-old man who lives in the same home as the victim. He was eventually caught by police and taken into custody at the Martinez Detention Facility. Police did not state the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
