Anna Jahns lives just a few tents away from where the 28-year-old woman was killed. Unhoused advocate Robbie Powelson says strict camping policies can leave unhoused women with fewer safe options. The stabbing happened at an unsanctioned encampment, four blocks from the city-run camping area on the Mahon Creek path. That site has 50 tents there, but Jahn's says there is never any availability. The city says the sanctioned site has provided a safer and stable environment, adding that 86 percent of people who have stayed there are now housed or actively working toward housing. Police asked anyone who was in the area from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and has information to contact the police department at (415) 485-3000.
