Officials in Lehigh County have recovered the body of a 46-year-old man who fled from police and jumped into the Lehigh River on Thursday, March 12, the county coroner said on Saturday. According to police, the unidentified man initially fled when officers went to serve a warrant near the Whiteh all Township-Coplay border shortly before 11:45 a.m. on Thursday. The man fled into the river, and police said they then began to search the water for him. However, the man’s body was found in nine feet of water at the 200 block of North 2nd Street in Coplay on Saturday, March 14, at around 4:20 p.m., the coroner said. The coroner’s office said it has identified the body as the man who fled, however, officials have not yet released the man’s name, cause of death or why he was being investigated.
