Truck hits 13 year old following collision between emotorcycles

A truck struck a 13-year-old boy after the boy riding an e-motorcyle collided with another 13 year old on an e-motorcycle around 11 p.m. Friday, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The boys were riding Sur-Rons on Kilby Road near the intersection of 2200 West (Powderwood) in the Kim
ball Junction area when the handlebars of the boys’ struck each other and caused the cycles to crash.
“One of the boys was injured and came to rest partially in the travel lanes of Kilby Road,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The other was able to move off the road, and a passerby in a truck stopped, focused a spotlight on the injured boy and moved him out of the roadway.
Meantime, the other boy returned to the roadway to move one of the e-motorbikes off Kilby Road was struck by a box truck. The Sheriff’s Office said the truck ran over the boy and the e-motorcycle.
This boy was transported to a Salt Lake City area hosptial. As of 6 a.m. Saturday, the boy’s family reported that he was expected to survive, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“The driver of the box truck reported that they did not see the boy or the motorcycle in the roadway due to the bright spotlight obstructing their view,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “All parties involved are cooperating with the investigation. At this time, alcohol impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in the incident.”
