Indiana Grown: Black Jewell Popcorn INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) —  Each and every Saturday, WISH-TV highlights a local company together with our partners at Indiana Grown. This week, Annie Johnson with Black Jewell Popcorn joined News 8 at Daybreak. Black Jewell Popcorn, a father-daughter-owned business, describes its goal as elevating snacks by “offering a healthier, more sophisticated alternative to ordinary snacks.” Johnson says outside of the snacking mission, they specialize in heirloom or heritage popcorns, the most recognizable being the “Black Jewell.” “It has a little richer flavor than just an ordinary yellow popcorn,” she said. “A fresh, crispy crunch. It’s a little different flavor texture profile that makes it really, really good to eat.” They offer a handful of different flavors and varieties of snacks, including bags of unpopped kernels that you can pop on your stovetop. Johnson adds that the unpopped kernels are her personal favorite.
