SAN FRANCISCO – Like the Billboard RB Top 100 List, the hits keep coming for the Warriors. These hits, however, won’t have anyone in the Bay Area dancing or singing. Already saddled by a litany of injuries to stars like Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler III, Golden State’s list of walking wounded expanded during Friday night’s 127-117 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Chase Center. Al Horford, who had started six of the previous nine games, exited in the first half with a calf injury. No medical updates were given after the game, but it seems almost certain that the 39-year-old center will have to miss at least one game. Had that been the only injury news for Golden State, it would have been fairly easy to move on. But shortly after Horford left, Seth Curry had to come out of the game with right adductor soreness. Then Quinten Post left with a left ankle sprain. This is a team that has had to play the majority of the season without its top two scorers. Butler tore his right ACL after 38 games, while Curry has been nursing a sore knee and hasn’t played since Jan. 30. Draymond Green was a late scratch, too, because of lingering lower back soreness. “We’re going through it for sure,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “But you saw how hard the guys played and stayed in it and got the fans into it. We can’t ask anything more of our players right now what they’re giving effort-wise and playing together. But yeah, we’re about as beaten up as any team.” If there is a silver lining, as Kerr pointed out, it’s that the injuries to the front-line guys have opened the door for some of the Warriors’ younger players to get some needed reps. “The games are going to keep coming no matter what,” Kristaps Porzingis said. “Young guys are going to have more opportunity, which they have to take advantage of. Hopefully, we’ll get everybody back as soon as possible. (Get) everybody health and we can see how this team looks.” Download and follow the Dubs Talk Podcast This story uses functionality that may not work in our app. Click here to open the story in your web browser. ...read more read less
