Dublin teachers, district reach tentative deal to end strike

The Dublin Unified School District and teachers union reached a tentative agreement on a new contract to end the four-day long teachers strike Thursday night.
Educators in the district first walked out of classroom and onto picket lines on Monday, March 9, after failed contract talks. After 12 ho
urs of negotiations, the Dublin Teacher’s Association announced they reached an agreement with the district.
According to the TA, the new three-year agreement includes “guaranteed elementary counselors, smaller class sizes and caseloads, improved healthcare and a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increase.”
Educators sent a non-comprehensive overview of some of the agreements reached. Those are:
Special education caseload reduced from 28 to 23, with language to equitably distribute workloads at each school
Guaranteed full-time counselor at every elementary school
45-student limit for high school PE classes to increase safety
Guaranteed full-time credentialed teacher-librarian at every high school
Reduced elementary class sizes
Fully funded individual healthcare for all educators implemented by Jan 1, 2028
2.3% COLA increase
