Police are responding to a major accident that left one person dead and three others injured near Forney on Thursday morning. According to Forney officials, emergency crews responded to a crash along the U.S. Highway 80 service road near Townsend Road in Kaufman County shortly before 8 a.m. Th e crash, which involved an 18-wheeler, a pickup truck towing a trailer, and two other vehicles, resulted in the vehicles catching fire, officials said. Officials said one person was pronounced dead at the scene, two people were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, and one person was treated for their injuries at the scene. The incident occurred outside the City of Forney’s city limits, but the Forney Police Department responded to the scene alongside fire and emergency personnel, officials said. According to officials, eastbound U.S. Highway 80 is shut down at Windmill Farms, where officers are rerouting traffic to allow emergency crews to work safely and manage the scene. Officials said drivers traveling eastbound should expect delays and, if possible, seek alternate routes.
