(KRON) -- The potential for a serious crash was averted on Monday when an elderly woman driving against traffic on Interstate 80 in Fairfield was pulled over by police, according to the California Highway Patrol. Video shared by authorities (watch above) shows the wrong-way driver traveling against traffic in the express lane of westbound I-80, passing within feet of vehicles one lane over. CHP officers quickly responded just before 5:50 p.m. to reports of the wrong-way driver and initiated a traffic break to prevent a head-on crash. After the flow of traffic was stopped, a Fairfield Police Department officer stopped the driver.
